Matthew: Missed his team’s basketball game to play in two soccer games. We knew his basketball team was going to crush Corunna, and they did, 50-6. The soccer team did something they haven’t done before…won a game at the indoor facility in Wixom; a 3-2 win over LCSC. I understand Matthew played ok (I was off with Cpher) but he wasn’t a part of the scoring. The second game of the back-to-back action was every bit of the beatings we’ve come to expect; 100 minutes of soccer with a 5 minute break makes for some very tired boys.
Christopher: First league basketball game of the season. In Elsie.
Elsie is so far back in the country that I had no cell phone coverage. 50 minutes away, almost straight north. We hadn’t played Ovid-Elsie last year so not sure what to expect…..turns out they have twelve kids (it’s hard to rotate playing time with 12 kids) and they had enough size to match up with us.
I think we’re down 10-7 after the 1st quarter….not playing defense very well and giving up too many back door cuts. We are winning 27-22 at the half though and go on to cruise to a 45-28 win.
Cpher had one of our first baskets of the game, you can see him about to shoot above. Evan (#11 above) has driven into the lane and Cpher’s defender has had to come up and try to stop him; Evan dumped the ball off to a wide-open Cpher and Cpher did what he has to do in that spot….put the ball in the basket.
But overall, not a great game for the big guy….not a lot of rebounds until the fourth quarter when the game was over. No picks; and since he wasn’t setting many picks it made him look like he was just standing around. Oh well.
