Kevin Extracurriculars

Plays;  He auditioned for the fall and winter play about a month back; I figured as a senior things might go better than expected and they didn’t go that way at all.  For better or worse (and I’m convinced now it’s worse) both of these plays are directed by the same guy who does the musical……..I’ve been pessimistic that Kevin would ever have much of a role in a musical and now firmly believe that Kevin won’t have much of a part there either.

The fall play is “It’s a Wonderful Life”….Kevin is Sam, a small part who memorably(?) gets to say “Hee Haw” all of the time…..

The winter play is “All I needed in life I learned in kindergarten” or something like that.  This play, like Almost Maine, is much smaller and only has five parts, 3 male, 2 female.  Kevin is none of those.  In one of the more frustrating (for me at least) items, the main male leads in Life are the same male leads in Kindergarten.  What’s the point in that?  I’m sure they will be the same leads in the musical as well.

Quiz Bowl:  The fall league season ended last week….it’s been an interesting season.  Kevin has pointed out that for some reason the format in Quizbusters is better for the team than Quiz Bowl…..the matches in Quiz Bowl, by and large, are much closer.

They ended up as regular season champs, but, had to pull it out on the last day.  Eastern has one very good girl, and she carried the rest of her team to a win over the team when Kevin and Abhijit were absent early in September.  The rematch was last Wednesday and they were, I think, down by 10 going into the lightning round at the end of the match but won.

The fall league tournament was the very next day; they beat Everett 170-95 in the first round, faced Eastern again in the semi-finals and were again down, this time by 25, going into the lightning round but rallied to win by 5.  And they beat…well, I’m not sure who they beat, Kevin didn’t text the team, but only texted that they won 265-145 in the final.

Quizbusters taping #2 is tonight…[Update from the front:  They crushed Howell 650-160]
