(I think I have had a smile on my face for almost every aspect of this post. But especially from the big discovery part forward…..)
Only one true photo album in Dad’s storage; it, according to Mom’s handwriting, documents the events from February 1968 to November 1968 on the trip to El Paso. The photos shown below represent about a fourth of the photos present in the photo album. Slowly went through and took the Polaroids (I assume they are Polaroid by the square shape but maybe wrong on that….I’m pretty confident I’m going to be posting a correction email to this post at some point anyway as some of the question that come up get answered) out of their sleeves to scan them in.
And discover that I am not going to have to do commentary on each photo…..it has thoughtfully been provided for me! Typewritten onto the back of the photos for the first 75-80%….handwritten for the rest.
Unsuspecting June – Skyline Caverns
This is along Skyline Drive. The next 17 or so pictures are of the different views we saw along the trip.
John went crazy at every lookout.
Another view of the house
(Apparently this is Aunt Miriam’s house….and while the photo album has a heading for what must be a picture of Aunt Miriam there isn’t a picture in that slot. A quick look at the genealogy I have doesn’t really explain who the mysterious Aunt Miriam is….)
The house again
Aunt Nora and Sugarfoot. This was a break for Sugarfoot.
(again, I don’t see an Aunt Nora in the genealogy…..)
Grits and Corn Pon and Black Eyed Peas.-----
Soups ON????
(this is Aunt Miriam? picture doesn’t say…)
Destin Florida. 58 Degrees. This is the beginning of the end.
John getting wetter and wetter and…
Maybe he thinks he can walk on water.
The sandals are floating to Brazil or somewhere and John gets a lovely shot of Junes finest asset???
Help, there goes my sandal.
I can see for miles and miles and --
Ha, I can walk on water too -----
Another sex symbol or a feeble attempt at a beach bunny……
--So you like bathtubs--
One roar and the mighty cat leaps up his ladys leg, later into her arms.
Sugarfoot left some lovely scars.
don’t know why Junes mouth is open but she is not laughing.
Come on, Sugarfoot, give it a chance
O.K. back to the motel and a nice bathtub.
The dining room was on the beach and this is what dinner was like that night.
(a bunch of pictures from Mardi Gras in New Orleans…I’ve included only one here)
Each float has a name. As you can see, this is the dancing elephant of Siam.
Fort Bliss in background – see the pretty desert about. 1/2 mile from our house. Franklin Mountains
John on a sand dune at White Sands
Try getting sand off when the nut is through.
He flies!
Juarez. View as you cross the bridge from El Paso
Crossing back to El Paso. This man and kids stand underneath the bridge to catch pennies in bags on a big stick
Another establishment of evil!
On bridge back to El Paso
(Maverick) Cat in the Hat? No – cat in the basket.
