A leftover from the Ox Roast….it’s the Dewitt Ox Roast, and well, Dewitt had an Olympian this year. Lots of Jordan stories around these parts…
A favorite pastime; snuggling with the dogs. This must have been earlier in the days after the cast was on…
We play the slugbug game while driving…the boys are brutally efficient and Dad gets punched a lot (Mom has announced she is not playing anymore after some not-so-soft shots from Cpher….you can’t just quit though!). Saw this bug, covered in Native American art, in the Denver airport…
You know who likes the porch? Madison, who spends a lot of time on the chairs out front now….
My one picture from youth football night before the high school game. Only introduced by team, not by name…..kind of a non-event, but, the boys were happy they went.
Don’t get dogs on this side of the house much….but here Holly is. Couldn’t figure out why she kept coming over here…..
…until I stepped over and could hear this squirrel just chattering up a storm while Holly just sat there and wished that the squirrel would come back down.
Kevin, watching “Bill Maher” with us a few weeks back……but, as you can see, he didn’t make it through the show. He’s done this twice to us now, just zonked out while watching TV.
We scored, through Suzanne’s work, some really sweet seats to the MSU –vs- Eastern Michigan. We were five rows from the field! We could (but did not) order concessions and have them delivered to our seats! Had a parking pass and were able to park right next to the stadium; we’ve walked farther to get into the mall!
MSU squeaked out a win….it was not a very good game; we expected lots of scoring and for three quarters we ended up wondering if MSU was going to even win. But, the view was excellent, the weather was ok (one or two small showers, and partly cloudy….if the sun was out you were warm and if it wasn’t you were cold…)
I was going to do a whole post on this “Channeling John Wesley”….but I’ll just do it here instead.
The TV in the master bedroom has slowly but surely become an issue. The video would stop, the audio would continue, and turning the TV off and on would fix the problem at first but, at the end of the problem in the last few weeks, wouldn’t do anything at all. Looked up the symptoms on the internet and the solution was easy…and not easy, it meant basically disassembling the television down to it’s component parts. The board that you see above is the problem…I had to remove at least 50 screws and four different boards to get to it. You can see the black scorching on the copper part of the board…the screw that holds this board in place was not the proper screw in the factory, and the TV base and the board both have scorch marks from the electrical current getting grounded there intermittently So, some cleaning with an eraser and some contact cleaner, reassemble the tv, and no problems since.
Kevin, for mismatch day at OHS during homecoming week…..Kevin ended up not wearing the flipper or the goggles (just wouldn’t stay on), but, probably nailed mismatch day more than most….
It’s gotten chilly in these parts….we held off on turning on the furnace on Monday and Tuesday with a fire each morning, Matthew enjoys a blueberry muffin Monday before school…
And this will certainly be a post of it’s own when the show goes online in November….Kevin was part of the Quiz Bowl team that competed in the first round of the Quizbusters tournament on Tuesday. Okemos –vs- Linden in a qualifying round match. 64 teams start, the top 32 teams are seeded by score and then it’s tournament style until the finals. Top teams get a 5K scholarship to MSU; I don’t think any of the last four to six seniors from Okemos who competed went to MSU, so…..
Okemos won 450-240. I’ll leave the gory details for when I post the link to the video….but Kevin said afterwards on facebook… “And I almost made it through QuizBusters without an embarrassing flub...”
At least he didn’t have the most embarrassing flub; during the Lightning Round at the end of the game one question was “What is the eighth month of the year?”…One of the Linden kids buzzed in and said October. Kevin’s flub, in the lightning round, wasn’t as bad, but, for geography-expert-Kevin, it was pretty awful.
Ready for action too….both boys seemed to really enjoy watching Kevin compete and watching the show be taped for TV.
Fric and Frac at the bus stop.
