We head south today for a soccer tournament. The weather forecast looks moderately awful; it will be better than it is here in Mid-Michigan (tomorrow the high in Cinci is supposed to be in the 50’s) but Sunday is rainy with temps in the upper 30s / low 40s. That will really suck if it happens.
Two games Saturday, one game Sunday. Win all three, or maybe two of three, and we play in the finals last Sunday.
So, who do we play?
FC Pride – First game, 11:45 am Saturday. From Indianapolis. Looks to be the toughest game of the three. Internet-stalking reveals…..1) they play a lot of tournaments. 2) they beat Canton Black last year....we have not had much success against Canton Black. But, that also is last year…..3) Also beat another team from Michigan, TKO Crew Juniors, 3-2, in another tournament. TKO beat FC Elite 3-0 earlier this year, we have a pretty convincing win and a crappy performance loss against FC this year.Lexington - Second game, under the lights at 8:30 pm (shudder to think what the weather could be like for this game!…..). I’d say the 2nd toughest game; they have lost to FC Pride before. Lost to a team we played 9-0 in the fall (ok, not really, we played the club’s U12 team and they are playing the U11 team); we lost to them as well, but it certainly wasn’t a 9-0 whitewashing….
Cleveland FC – Third game, Sunday at 1:45 pm. The club’s website says they were semifinalists at a tournament this fall.... of course they conveniently don't mention that was the semi finalists of the lowest division. The top division had teams we would play against…..so I’m thinking even if Saturday doesn’t go well this will be a good game to finish with.
Finals, should we make it, are at 4:15 pm. Which means a really late return into the greater Lansing metropolitan area if we make it that far…..
