Big day…and then another down day. Not much going on besides pool and beach (sadly, or maybe predictably, the boys were again more than happy with Disney Channel and internet amusements)
So Suzanne and I decided to go north on Highway 30 and see just how far we could get before we had to turn around to get back in time to get the boys dinner and get to our dinner cruise….
Made it all the way up to the Nakalele blow hole. I will have to see if Suzanne has better pictures than me of this…..it’s down there on the rocks and I’m sure if there had been some boys on this trip we would have been hiking down there…
Suzanne and I stopped several times on the way back at scenic overlooks; like everything in Hawaii, it was very pretty.
Spent a lot of time wondering if we could retire here…..Suzanne I think nailed it, she would like to be on the Humpback schedule; Hawaii December through April, Alaska the rest of the year!
Suzanne and I finished the day (and the trip; we’re out of there late tomorrow night) with a dinner cruise out of Lahaina. We granted the boys wish….watch TV/internet, stay in the hotel (but hey, feel free to go to the pool if you want!); dropped off a pizza or two, and headed out.
And it was a really great night to be out on the water….saw a few whales, had a great view (premium seating meant right on the upper level on the front of the boat). Dinner was ok (don’t think you can have a great meal off the grill on a boat with 60 other people!). But it was good enough.
Premium seating meant three alcoholic drinks as part of the price. Always a challenge…but held up my end of the deal with two lava flows and one strawberry daiquiri. Sunset wasn’t as good as it could have been because of the clouds…
But…you got to see it twice since there was a break in the clouds…
One more day (travel begins at 10 pm, so, we have a whole day on the island) and then the long travel home.
