So, the wounded Chieftains, down one #2 doubles player (strained back) and a #3 singles player (heat stress), head to Ann Arbor for an 8-team (I’m not sure) tournament.
I predict….pain.
I drive Kevin and two of his teammates down Friday night…they are staying in a hotel due to the early start. Adult family won’t be in attendance…this tournament came up on short notice and we were heading to GR with Matthew.
Kevin, at least, will be partnered with Parker all day. So maybe something good will happen as the chemistry improves…
Match 1: Pretty much summed up by Kevin’s texts “We play Ann Arbor Huron in the first round. Predicted score, 6-0, 6-0”. “My prediction came true.” Dad – “Sorry”, Kevin “Don’t be. It’s exactly what I expected to happen”.
Match 2: Lost to Portage Central, 6-4, 6-2. For a tournament, there aren’t a lot of different teams here, but, at least this loss was better than the the one on Friday….and
Match 3: Beat Holland West Ottawa, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. That’s a whole lot of improvement! Kevin, when asked, had absolutely nothing more to share about this match other than that Parker and he won.
