Yeah, this probably deserves a full post.
Any trip, oh, west of the Rockies immediately have Suzanne and I figuring out “Where is the nearest Roberto’s Taco Shop?”. By no means is this the greatest Mexican food in the world; any Yelp search will give you a decent amount of comments blaming the restaurant for food poisoning, etc. But for us, as far as Mexican fast-food goes, this place, and the corresponding knock-offs, is the best around.
We likey….
The last trip to Vegas we noticed that Roberto’s, or, select Roberto’s locations, had been sold or bought out and are now Don Tortaco’s. Same great food, different name. This location, on Sands just east of Paradise, is the closest we’ve found to the Strip. There’s a 24-hour laundromat right next door…that can lead to thinking that the neighborhood is slightly sketchy when you are stopping by at 12:30 am for your late night taco and quesadilla snack!
No matter what the name is, the menu is basically the same as shown here. This is an actual Robertos’ (where the picture at the top came from) and we did notice that the prices here were about 25 to 40 cents more per item than at Don Tortaco…
We did not know that they had this special! Of course, our mexi-snack was after midnight on Wednesday also….
When I was doing FEMA work in San Diego I brought back a large container of Roberto’s salsa for Suzanne…..we’re going to try and take home some cheese quesadillas and salsa today. Might be a bit trickier with the carry-on baggage limit on liquids, but, those containers are 4 ounces so we should be good.
