Tuesday Night: Like Roberto’s, there is one other Vegas staple….Mon Ami Gabi.
The best thing about the restaurant is the food….we went late and asked specifically for a table right up against the railing….people watching and Bellagio fountains across the street…can’t beat that!
Panorama
Wednesday: Start off with Suzanne’s first round of play in the slot tournament that came with our room rate (not so good results here). Went to the pool, was crowded so sat in the shade near the Palazzo pool and then went back over and swam in the Venetian pool (in the sun) before calling it quits….
Had Grimaldi’s pizza for lunch…spent the afternoon doing some gambling and then walking over to the Forum shops at Caesar's….
Did not do as well on the Star Wars machine at the Venetian….bombed out of the bonus round early…got a good laugh out of being named for Porkins…..
The trip over to Caesar’s was to go to happy hour at Max Bruner’s chocolate shop. A chocolatini, some chocolate cake drink and a snack, this half of a chocolate chunk pizza with peanut butter and hazelnut toppings….
Drool…drool….
Suzanne had her second slot event in the afternoon (did much better compared to the others…). Went to Lotus of Siam (Thai) for dinner….really liked it Suzanne. Waiter, as always, double-checks with Suzanne that she wants her curry at ‘10’ on the hotness scale of 1 to 10 (Scott went for a safe ‘7’). And the delivered on the heat! Suzanne was definitely happily suffering…..really enjoyed this meal.
The night was spent at the new Michael Jackson Cirque show at Mandalay Bay. Liked it (except for the two ladies behind who just wouldn’t shut up!). and found myself humming Billy Jean today as we walked around….
Table limits are, to me, so high now at the big casinos that I dislike sitting at the tables playing blackjack, or Pai Gow, or Craps. But they have these automated craps machines now….and I did pretty well at Mandalay before the show…..
Of course, I’m doing so well and gone for so long that Suzanne comes looking for me. She finds me the first time, can tell I’m doing well, and says she is off to go do something else. That is fine. The second time she comes back I’m still doing well….and she stays and watches a few automated rolls of the dice and the numbers work out and I win and win and win. And I’m sitting there thinking, please, please, don’t ask when I can stop, because in craps, the only way to pull your bets back is to crap-out….in my case, have a ‘7’ come up.
So….of course, Suzanne finally asks “when can you stop?”….and of course, karma and superstition kick in and the next roll of the dice is, of course, the ‘7’.
A lot of good-natured kidding with Suzanne as I leave the table ahead on the $$$ front….but not quite as ahead as I could have been if someone hadn’t jinxed the whole table!
Thursday: Not much going on here before we fly out on the red-eye. Suzanne has her last slots event (good, but not great….not sure that she’ll make the top 100 and get a prize) and we spend some more time at the pool. Hit In-N-Out for lunch (I used to love this, but, find, that I am now firmly in the Five Guys camp of burger likes). Stop and finish souvenirs collection for the boys (Cpher = LV Hard Rock Shirt)…..
I make my future sports bets…..
I know…really tempting the fates here!
Am happy that I got 20 to 1 with the Steelers…and sad that I was able to get 20 to 1 with the Steelers
Kevin’s souvenir. Says a lot about that 20 to 1 for the Steelers…
Suzanne thinks that these sports bets are basically throwing money away…and even if you are losing $10 in the casino playing something you have the entertainment value of playing instead of just waiting to see if you win or lose a future bet. I’d definitely look at this and the next soccer bet in the “yeah, there is really a limited chance of winning this, but, I will have fun dreaming about it”
Think other casinos are offering the USA at much lower odds (20 or 25 to 1)….and they’ve been playing well. I’ll take it…
This bet is that anybody but the top 7 in the English Premier League will win the championship. I was going to just take Everton (who I root for) at 200 to 1 but figure for 100 to 1 I might as well take the gaggle of other teams that might get lucky enough to pull a season of greatness out of their English arse.
Suzanne finds out she finishes 88th in the slots tournament. She gets the same prize as #21 (so we’ll say she finished tied for 21st!), $100 in slot credits and she was able to get most of that back as winnings after playing through it.
Red-eye home….then a 3-hour drive to get the boys….and then 1.5 hours home with the boys. I predict…naps!
