Clicky on Kevin to get to the video…..
(episode aired this weekend; took until tonight for the video to appear online)
Missed the taping of this episode; was down in Indianapolis for work. So watching it was a lot of fun for me!
Quick Ten: Not a good start; missed the state where Big Bend National Park is (Texas). But came back with a vengeance…..knew where Branson was, knew about Listerine, heard enough of the question and the first syllable of Pittsburgh to get Ohio, and knew the capital of the Philippines. Winning 70-20
Toss-Up 1: The funniest moment of the year occurs in the first bonus. As you look at our team, the left side, Gavin and Abhijit are the science/math nerds and Ravi and Kevin are more general knowledge types…with Ravi being stronger in the science and math than Kevin. So when that bonus came up, name these NFL quarterbacks, you can see Kevin start smiling. And then Kevin and Ravi completely ignore the other two (who I bet wouldn’t have even gotten the first question right as they sweep the category) and the whole sequence is pretty funny.
Pretty much cleaned up on all of these bonuses in all of these questions. Only missed one toss-up and I’m sure they knew it, just a litlte slow. Winning 170-70
Pop Quiz 1: The letters are l-a-s. Kevin gets Last of the Mohicans; gets John Lassiter, and gets Las Vegas. Winning 230-110. Not the best pop quiz round for the team.
Toss-Up 2: The first question here is why this team is so good….there aren’t many kids who can hear that first sentence of scientific gobbledy-gook and understand what it is, never mind guess the correct answer.
Music questions are also a big strength….everybody but Ravi was in an All-State ensemble this year. Kevin nailed the Rimsky-Korsakov final question….330-110.
Toss-Up 3: Buzzed in a little too early; didn’t hear enough to name the type of putter and lost the toss-up leading to the video question. All year long, the team did not get this question.
The team is really on a roll….Kevin really knew the World War I questions. And again back to music….just not fair sometimes. 480-120
Pop Quiz 2: The letters are i-d.. This was pretty ugly. Did not get the Monty Python reference (Grrrr.). Did not get Idles of the King. And missed ideal. 530-160.
Toss-Up 4: 610-170. If they hadn’t tanked the last pop-quiz they would have another good shot at that mythical 720 mark…..
Lightning Round: Kevin knows Mobile; Ravi’s answer of “The Americans” was another pretty funny moment that got the other three smiling, Kevin misses the Army rank question (which will probably get him chided later on!) and that’s that. Pretty dominating….and I wasn’t the only one to think that…saw this out on the twitter-verse during the broadcast….
