The first of the two repeat stops on this cruise; back to Cozumel to start our four straight port days.
Weather: Windy, sunny, highs in the 80’s. That windy part is a pain in the ass….the ship was moving quite a bit last night (and since we are in the back and high it is more noticeable than on other cruises. It was so windy that they made us take down the umbrellas we rented at the beach club in the afternoon; again, this was a problem for the fair-skinned one (although Suzanne wasn’t the sunburn leader today, it was Matthew, who should have put more sunscreen on his face during the sea day yesterday and has a very red complexion today.
This beach club, Playa Mia, seemed a little nicer than the one we went to last time. A nice big pool for the kids and a play structure that was a little more accessible than the one at the other club. The one minus was they required you to wear the life vests to swim out to the structure…and that made it twice as hard to swim out there…
But once there, the boys had a lot fun….
Dad tried to make his way up this mountain to the top…I think I got one step above where Drew is here and then as I reached up for the last handhold my foot slipped and I went ass-over-head-Wipeout-style down the hill and off into the water. The other Dad we are with on the cruise has said his big regret for the day was not having a video camera to record my demise….
After lunch, we rented a boat and went out and did some snorkeling. The snorkeling was ok; we were too far above the coral (20 to 30 feet?) to really see any fish up close and because of the winds the water was as rough and choppy as I’ve ever been snorkeling in….getting back into the boat both times was an adventure…if you were too close to the boat you could get pulled into it pretty good!
Matthew had the ‘new’ waterproof camera and took these shots. In the first of the GoPro follies, Dad forgot to put the SD card back into so it was useless today…
thought Cpher did a very nice job snorkeling today…was diving down and around and was very comfortable out here….
I had the ‘old’ waterproof camera and focused on boys more than fish since the fish were so far away (we did see four or five big barracudas…that was pretty near!)
I have this picture of Matthew, but, I couldn’t find any picture of me on his camera….
