In the first of the written tie-breakers, Kevin missed a question about Bavarian countries with lederhosen (I think, but am not sure, that he answered Austria and Switzerland and that the answer was Austria and Germany). It sounded as if Kevin talked himself out of the right answer, but, again, am not sure on that.
Kevin is/was distraught, but, calmed down and did as we encouraged him to do, fought the impulse to leave and stayed for the end of the 'bee' to see and hear the types of questions they asked so that he could be ready for next year.
Four others missed one of the questions in the first tie-breaker as well.
