From the Sports Desk – Last of the Indoor Days

Been a while, relatively speaking, since I posted about the indoor season.  We didn’t play when Cpher and I were off at Penn State; Matthew missed the games right after Thanksgiving so I didn’t write about them.  So, last weekend was suddenly the last weekend of the season.

Saturday:  Lost, to Whiteout (again), 6-3.  Had two kids say they weren’t going to be there and lost one kid to injury late in the first half.   This meant we would have no subs for the second half.  We were down 3-2 at the half and tied it early in the 2nd half but the roof caved in with about 10 minutes left and they scored 3 times in about 2 minutes.

Had Matthew in goal in the second half and he did a nice job; made every save that he should have made and had really no chance on either of the 3 goals.  Asked him to be aggressive and play the ball out of goal and play ‘high’ away from the goal to minimize the running our sub-less kids might have to do and did a nice job of that.

Really happy with how those kids played for that 2nd half.

Sunday:  Won, 7-1, against the Trojans.  Told Cpher that he would get another chance at soccer glory here and, as always, that made for a fun game.  Even better when his little brother is looking for him, so, the first goal of the game was Cpher off of a Matthew pass.  First goal of the second half was another Cpher special off of a Matthew pass.   Matthew also chipped in two more goals of his own, so, well, it was a pretty good game for Mom in the stands!

(no pictures here….a boring post!)
