Breakfast

It started, a long time ago, in Ypsilanti.  Dad takes Kevin out on a weekend morning to give Mom a long overdue break and some extra beauty sleep.

And so begins many mornings of pancakes (with sausage!) and play places.  Some playplaces are better than others…I think I am fondest of the McDonalds on Jolly with the double and triple level play place that Christopher and Matthew ran around in on many a winter morn.

(it is amazing what you can find on the internet!  A picture of the aforementioned playplace!)

We are older now; the playplace visits are long gone and we’ve now moved into breakfast as a necessary meal before a day of sports.  The preferred destination is Cracker Barrel; it is nearby (at the interstate, of course) and appeals to all (it has taken a while for Suzanne to be happy with what she orders but we are there; Matthew is actually down on the CB now….the pancakes aren’t as thin as the usual Mom-produced variety!)

(more internet photo-age)

Dad has always been partial to this delight, Grandpa’s Country Breakfast.  Looked up the caloric damage one time…now I’m just in denial about that number (and eat much smaller meals for the rest of the day…hopefully!)

Cpher, in our last two visits, has asked for bites of my breakfast…..he is thinking of taking the plunnge soon!

The last breakfast at CB was on Cpher’s birthday; that’s what he wanted.  No Matthew (Cpher and Kevin have to be up before 6:45 for school, Matthew is so late it is 7:45 and accordingly that boy stays up super late at night…..we had to be up even earlier to do this breakfast and let, with Cpher’s assent, Matthew opt out).

(one staple of CB is the little peg-puzzle.  Cpher has not worked hard at accomplishing the feat, but, he will attempt it once every trip.  Finally (finally!) met with success earlier this month).
