Vacation Day Five – Palazzo

Started the day with a trip to the Bellagio pool; sat in the shade with my fair-skinned sweetie and read, went for a quick dip in the pool.  Finished our time in the pool long before it got too hot.  Suzanne, way way back, had come to Las Vegas in the summertime and promised never never NEVER to come again.  But, we both agreed that we preferred the 102-103 temps here to the high eighties and nineties at home with the humidity, never mind the 100s in New York that we just missed!

Had lunch at Hash House a go go (again….had the discussion with Suzanne how it’s probably good that we like what we like and that, for the most part, it’s not crazy expensive.  Like caviar, or something like that.  Yes, we stopped at Roberto’s for cheap Mexican fast food after we landed on Saturday!)

The room at the Palazzo.  I was very disappointed with the Bellagio room, sure, it had a great view, but in almost every other measure the Palazzo room is nicer.  It’s bigger, the furnishings were better, the bathroom was nicer, etc.  Suzanne points out how lavish the lobby and stuff at Bellagio are but, I don’t care about that.  Why pay more there when the rooms are so much nicer here.

Of course, we paid nothing here…..the three nights here were free as an ‘inducement’ to get us to come back.  Suzanne and I faithfully signed up for the casino’s ‘member club’ and signed up at every other new property we went to on this trip as well.

We could have paid extra for a strip-side room; not sure what we would have seen though.  The Palazzo is building an addition out front so you’d see some cranes, and the view of the Mirage and Treasure Island isn’t all that impressive.

And, at the last minute, decided to take in a show that evening.  Wayne Brady’s improv show was coming to an end on Tuesday so we decided to go see it tonight (Monday).  He was really funny and it’s always amazing to see how quickly he can come up with jokes and funny songs based on audience input.

Gambling Tally:  I think Suzanne ended up down about $60 for the trip and I ended up coming back to almost even at this point.  But, I’m really not sure.  I do know how we ended up (we’ll get there…) and think that the first of my many beautiful wonderful encounters with the Star Wars slots occurred in the afternoon.  More on that later as well…..
