Thursday we got Christopher and Matthew back (and there is a post coming about their trip…) and Friday Kevin returned to Michigan as well.
Left home around 2 pm and stopped at Ikea on the way down there….purchased a new bed frame for Matthew, who has been on an old futon frame for a long long time. Of course, the trip to Ikea was marred by having Matthew run ahead in the store to get to the beds, get lost, get ‘found’ by a woman outside of the store (he couldn’t find us, so, was going out to check if we were at the car) and while we were searching the maze that is the upper level of Ikea hearing the announcement “Would Scott and Suzanne H. please have an Ikea associate call the operator?”
Sigh. Had a talk with Fric and Frac about not leaving the store when you are lost, not running ahead, etc. They aren’t back 24 hours and this is going on!
Anyway, get to the airport at 5:30ish, the online flight tracker we are looking at shows the plane just about to land. It takes Kevin almost 90 minutes to clear customs, but, finally, he makes his appearance
The scene at the arrival hall
Through this door the Kevin will come…
Learned something about my new Iphone (which has a photo zoom)….do not zoom indoors. Oh well.
The boys were super excited to see their brother.
And this hug was preceded by Kevin pointing out to Mom that he is now taller than her!
The big debriefing begins. In no particular order:
- As you know by now, he did do a great job of journal writing and photo taking
- Only lost one thing….the power converter, which fell out of his backpack on the bus
- Best stop: Boblingen/Calbe
- Worst stop: Chateauroux
- He did go to Rocamadour
- The group did get an hour in Paris on the flight out
- Did not have any wienerschnitzel! Can’t believe this!!
- really not a fan of sparkling water……
- a big fan of nutella….
- and….had a great time! Happy to be home, but sad that the trip is over.
