Saugatuck

Somehow, someway, a free weekend appeared on the schedule.  We didn’t have enough time to get the dogs boarded and actually spend the weekend away, but, we did crate the springer spaniels and head out west to Lake Michigan.

We spent the early afternoon in Saugatuck; had lunch and walked through some of the shops before heading over to the beach.  Lunch was nice; ate outside on the banks of the Kalamazoo Lake.  The weather has been oppressive here recently, but, it was overcast while we were at the shops and so it wasn’t so bad.

Clouds went away when we made it to Opal Beach.  Not too windy, just right, and the water temperature was a balmy 75 degrees.  If Lake Michigan was always this warm we might go more often….

While I can clip that annoying smudge out of most of the waterproof photos, I can’t get rid of it in all of them, and don’t have the photo-shop skills of Mom to take care of it.  Maybe sometime in the future I’ll take care of them…..

Definitely need to get the black smudge out of this photo!

You can see from most of these pictures that we hung out about as far out as you could go and still stand….not many people around us!

It’s Shark Week!   Goggles were useless…there was so much silt in the water you couldn’t see anything.  We brought a snorkel set just in case but didn’t even attempt going in the water with it, just nothing to see….

I think Suzanne was out in the water for 30-45 minutes….the boys stayed out with me for another 2 hours before I had had enough.  The highlight was chicken fights….Dad and Cpher against Matthew and Kevin, and then Dad and Matthew….most times, Dad was victorious (I think I had a better grip on my passenger…..).

Completely forgot the metal detector that Matthew got for his birthday…maybe next time.  Left for home around 7:30 pm, stopped and got pizza to eat on the drive back.
