Cape Cod

There is one evening of Cape Cod that we’ll leave for another post….but we’ll hit the highlights of the trip out to the Cape here.  We arrived Sunday morning and left Tuesday morning.

Provincetown:

Day One on the Cape was a slow journey in and around and a slow drive up the very tip and Provincetown.  Definitely a Mackinac Island feel…of course, that would be if Mackinac was, well, let’s use the phrase from wikipedia, a “vacation destination for gay men and lesbians”.  I don’t think I’ve seen so many rainbow decorations in my life!

We were only in town for the late evening so everything was kind of rushed; Matther, Cpher and I made a last minute dash to climb up Pilgrim’s Monument.  That was hectic….we got there and they let us in right as they closed but asked us not to ‘dawdle’…so that’s a lot of steps and inclines in a short time!

(looking down the center of the monument….if you look closely you can see the heads of Fric and Frac down there.  On every climb this week they were always WAY ahead of me)

(Pilgrim’s Monument.  A vacation with a lot of granite towers this trip!)

(thought this was pretty as we walked back down to meet Suzanne and Kevin)

(One of the reasons to go all the way up here to the end was to be at the only place on the east coast where you could watch the sun set over the ocean to the west!  And it definitely was worth it….except for Fric and Frac getting yelled at by this old man for running off the path in the beach grasses (and getting yelled at by me afterword for being stupid enough to deserve to get yelled at by someone else!)

Cape Cod Rail Trail:

(Tuesday was dominated by two events…the boys and I renting bikes and hitting the Rail Trail and then heading back up to P-Town for whale watching.  Whale watching will be its own post later.  But the rail trail was fun, nice day and we really logged the miles, 18 miles round trip!)

(started in Brewster and ended up where Blue marks the spot before we headed back)

(Had a blast with the boys BUT whiny Cpher from the canoe trip made a reappearance as we biked back…..would like to erase the last 4 miles of the trip.  Especially from my end…I was gassed and the boys ended up pulling further and further away from me the closer we got to the rental place!)

(but it was certainly pretty!)
