Las Vegas 2014

As is our ‘habit’ now….if the boys are off at camp then Suzanne and I are outta-here!  Conveniently timed so that we could spend another anniversary in Vegas, which is certainly in our top 5 in places-we-like-to-go!

The Accommodations:  Have I mentioned I married a travel agent wanna-be?  I’m sure I have; and man me and the boys make out like bandits because Suzanne puts in the time and research to find the best deals and values.   On this trip we stayed three places;

Cosmo (never had, wanted to cross it off our list, and because I’m Platinum at Marriott right now we got a very nice upgrade to a suite with a fantastic view north out at Bellagio, Paris, and the rest of the strip),

Aria (that’s the panorama from the bathroom of this corner suite we were in…literally, the bathtub looks out at this view.  Suzanne found this deal where we got $200 in meal and entertainment credit so we felt like we could spend that ‘savings’ on a room upgrade

and Bellagio….because it was the best deal we could find over the Friday and Saturday night when Vegas gets crazy expensive.

(the butterflies at the Wynn.  They also had this great Popeye ‘statue’ that I should have taken a better picture of!)

The Shows:  Went to Absinthe in front of Caeser’s…..a dirty and crude Cirque show?  Enjoyed it, but, not sure if I would recommend it to anyone.  We also went back to Love….it has been long enough since we first went (5 years?) that I certainly had forgotten some of the details and sitting up high instead of down low gave a new perspective to the show as well.

The Gambling:  It was ok.  I think we came out about $100 ahead overall.  Suzanne had some success very early and I had some success very late Saturday night that brought us back from a negative to a positive.   The pictures above are from the Avatar slot machine (was ok) and the Iron Man machine (which sucked).  Suzanne found a Wyland(!) machine and did really well, and Saturday night for me was a combination of video blackjack and roulette.

The Pools:  Spent time at both Aria’s and Bellagio’s pool; we are big fans of Bellagio’s setup (and that’s the picture above; our suite a Cosmo is where that diagonal bend occurred in the building).  Got some serious reading done while staying in the shade….

The Food:  Aside from the usual Roberto’s-based-diet that Suzanne and I are very fond of we hit our favorite steakhouse, Mon Ami Gabi, for our anniversary dinner (outside, watching the Strip go by, of course) and then later on when we got to the Bellagio had a very nice steak dinner at Prime there (was supposed to be outside for a great view of the fountains but this crazy chance of rain(?!?) moved us inside.  We’ll be going back, because the food was great and we want to sit outside at some point!)
