Futbol Fall 2014 – Game Report #1

From the email “Coach Shaun and I were very pleased to get off to the start we did and if the boys can maintain that level of performance then this is going to be a very fun season.”.

COACH:  Gray and Greer

DATE:  6th September

TEAM:  02 Boys Blue  VS  Tigers

RESULT:  5-1 Home Win

ATTACKING STRENGTHS

  • Clinical in first half.

  • Recognized the oppositions weaknesses and exploited them from the full back position. The opposition had a high line and we exposed the high line by playing direct balls into the channel.

  • Built up the play at the right times in the game.

  • ATTACKING CHALLENGES

  • Missed a few simple chances in the second half. Must not take our foot of the gas even when up by a few goals.

  • Would like to see some quicker 1-2s and shots in and around the penalty area.

  • DEFENDING STRENGTHS

  • First to a lot of balls today and closed down the opposition very quickly and well.

  • Defended well from the front.

  • Played back through our goalkeeper very well.

  • Stepped up well as a unit…. YES IT FINALLY HAPPENED 

  • DEFENDING CHALLENGES

  • Lack of communication from our players lead to their goal we need to always be switched on and ready to go.

  • Must open up a little quicker to pass the ball out the back when we are under pressure.

  • Must track back from the midfield position.

  • OVERALL COMMENTS

Spoke to the (Tigers) coach before the game and his team had remained the same as last year minus two players being cut and he brought in players. So… to do what we did against a team that has caused us trouble through the years was great stuff. We still made a few mental errors at times and at 1-0 Zach L made a great save to keep momentum with us. The first half was clinical and the second half we were simply outstanding and really should have put 12 past them. We have talked about playing the right style but also getting the results to put us in the top leagues for the coming years and this was a great first step to doing that. Overall we are very happy with the team’s performance.
