Free wifi here in the Hotel Regina so might as well try and finish up Day Two.
Amount of sleep since noon yesterday EDT; maybe 4 hours for me and the boys, Suzanne a little less. Family has done a good job staying up to almost midnight here to get a jump on adjusting to local time…
Left Paris at 3:50 after the weirdest plane-boarding process ever (go through a door and downstairs to a bus! And the bus takes across the airport to some more stairs, up this time, to the plane. We’re separated this trip; Matthew and I way in the back; Cpher and Mom up front.
We had arranged for a private transfer from the airport to the hotel (taxis aren’t built usually for 4 people and 4 big suitcases). Missing our flight turned out to mean that the private company a) wouldn’t revise the schedule to pick us up and b) declined to issue us a refund. I will be fighting this battle when I return to terra america….
These two pictures are of Plaza de Catalunya; the ‘square’ that denotes the northernmost end of Las Ramblas.
Because of the delays, we hit the hotel (just east of here) at 7 local time….and food was high HIGH on the priority list. It’s been a long time since those burgers in Boston. We ended up ‘settling’, more for ease than anything else, for pizza. Need to move into some tapas and paieas before we go…
View from the hotel room. A very large room for a European hotel, two bedrooms but the second bedroom is two beds and space to move between them; that’s it.
The only goal tonight was to go over and see the Magic Fountains of Montjuic We’re at the ‘base’ of the avenue that leads up to the main fountains…there’s a lot of water in motion around here….
Yes, we haven’t had a chance to change travel clothes….
As predicted, Frac with this new best friend, Orange Fanta!
Fric, wearing mardi gras beads since we were going to try to meet up with some of the people we’ve been facebooking with about the cruise. It was too crowded, hard to find anyone…..
Pano from the top of the stairs looking down into the valley.
Not a great photo, but, I wanted a reminder of these towers so that when I go back and read up about this area they make a little more sense to me….
