From the Sports Desk

Matthew:  I may be a little too ‘into’ Matthew’s games; I missed the one on Saturday and literally was nervous and had a sinking feeling in my stomach about the game.

This is game 8 of the 8-game season; the concept is simple…win and we win the division and are the #1 seed for the playoffs.  Any other result and we most likely finish second.

So,the first text I get from Suzanne, not 30 seconds after the game starts is ‘Losing 1-0’.

So why am I anxious?  I think because this is the first game in a while that my expectation was that we would win and the pressure was on us to win….and that not winning would be a step backwards. Soon, the texts say “1-1.  Avery with the goal.”  “A few good shots that have just missed”.

Next text is “Matthew took free kick.  Bounced out of goalie hands and Henry put it in”.  Click below for the video!

“2-2”

“Half”

“Matthew scored off of corner!”

Ok, that isn’t quite true….there’s the corner kick, and then a few seconds of play, and then another cross that Matthew puts in.  Again, click below for the video…..we’re winning 3-2.

“Want another goal here.  Or game to end!”

“Nick just scored!”

And that was that, a 4-2 final.  Since I missed the whole thing, Matthew and I have been slowly going through the video; Kevin did a nice job of taping!

Cpher:  Me and the big guy went down to Cranbrook in Bloomfield Hills for the last two games of the season as part of the Lax Jam.

Won the first game 4-3…Cpher back on defense (he never played another position this year; mostly by choice).  Did a great job poke-checking the other team; hadn’t seen that before.  You can see him doing it here; he actually gets the guy to fall down and lose the ball….

…which Cpher than scooped up and tried to clear; don’t think he was too successful here.

We won our second game 2-0; played 5 minutes, scored twice, looked to be well on our way to a nice win and rain and thunder blew in and that was that……looking forward to next year where Cpher will be a giant on the field and we will have both Fric and Frac on the same team!
