Boy, if I would have been typing on the Ipad an hour later last night that post would have been completely different.
But, by then, we had stopped, and I was back to driving, and we were about 20 miles south of Louisville when we see a sign “Construction Ahead at Mile Marker 88, 10 miles. One lane only. Expect long delays”. We’re not sure what to make of this at 9:30 at night, but, there really isn’t much we can do now…there are no more exits before Elizabethtown. And sure enough, not less than a mile later, four lanes of interstate grind to a halt. We look on our Iphones; and yup, looks to be about 10 miles of backup.
One hour later, roughly, we’re about 5 miles through it…..and now at the top of the hill near Elizabethtown. Thankfully, the world of GPS and Iphones allowed us to get off there and take the back roads of Kentucky to bypass the next 5 miles of fun.
Still delayed our arrival south of Nashville about an hour and a half total. There were some pretty tired boys (and parents) as we stumbled into the hotel.
