Trip and Arrival:
We stumbled back out of the hotel the next morning (the little alarm clock of the family, Christopher, had us all up and moving by 7 am.)
Today’s drive began with 2 hours of this:
It was raining pretty good for about 2 hours….those green spots seemed pretty heavy to me.
Speaking of weather, it was fun watching the external temperature reading in the car rise as we headed south. It was 30 in Lansing when we left….it was 42 in Nashville when we stopped, and this morning we started off at about 50.
The other weather-related event was seeing how far south we would have to go to see green on the trees. Nighttime ruined this experiment for us on Friday night but we can report that Michigan and Indiana and northern Kentucky are still brown.
And south of Nashville is looking very spring-like:
Song of the Day: “Hello” is still big….boys are also really liking anything by Mumford & Sons. And Kesha is a big favorite of Christopher’s so when “Blow” came on we were asked to turn it up, please!
Anti-Song(s) of the Trip: “F-U” is on way too much for a song that has outlived it’s prime; the start of that song is an instant cue for a channel change. Also, “Firework” is just a horrible song, no matter how much Fric and Frac like it….
We arrived in Niceville a little after 2 pm CDT. The boys were in the pool within 5 minutes of clearing the doors of the Odyssey.

Kevin wanted nothing to do with the pool whilst Fric and Frac were splashing around and re-enacting Jedi death as the fell into the water….but, after the smoke had cleared, he did venture out for a dip in the other backyard attraction

When we transitioned to the Wii we brought a Game Cube and a bunch of games down here…..Grandma and Gramps have a Wii and that gets used a lot, but, it’s surprising (to me at least) how much the boys like to play certain Game Cube games when we get here. Matthew’s playing a skiing-snowboarding game, SSX.

Oh yeah, and it’s a birthday!
Holly and Wiley are here in spirit (okay, they are literally sharing a run in a kennel 1000 miles away and there are small pangs of guilt about that arrangement for two weeks….)
So where does Matthew want to go for his birthday? Five Guys of course!
