First full day in London, so, we’re up and at it…
The window here in the hotel is kind of weird; there’s a very large platform that acts as the window sill….and the boys have taken up residence here…
They have a pretty good view….
Cpher, this spring, had to read a biography and do a report on that person. He was assigned William Shakespeare, so, that made a stop at the Globe Theatre a must on this trip….
Cpher remember a lot from this report and really enjoyed the tour; again, the tour guide did a great job keeping everyone engaged.
We wanted to watch a play here (Taming of the Shrew) but tickets were always sold out online…
Left the Globe and headed south along the south bank of the Thames towards the Tower of London. Walked through Borough Market on the way there…man there was some good food cooking there!
London Bridge. Big name, boring bridge.
Random art. Think this is “The Architect”…
This pano has ended up out of sequence; I must have taken it yesterday while coming back to the hotel across the Charing Cross bridge…not sure why it is here instead of in yesterday’s photo’s…
Today’s pano…
Tower Bridge The rings have only been lowered into place over the last day or two; we actually saw them moving as we walked up. A quick note about the weather; cloudy, in the high 60’s and low 70’s with periods of sprinkles. A big difference from sunny, blue skies, hot and humid southern Europe.
White Tower at the Tower of London…..didn’t take as many pictures here since we visited last time…
I did get a picture while the rings were moving….
More Pano-age…the big building on the left is The Shard, which will be the tallest building in Europe(?) when complete in the next month…
More Tower of London-age…
Cpher wanted a picture taken from inside the ‘box’…
This playground is near the hotel; it was a FricFrac magnet. Frac hit his head on the lumber not once, not twice, but three times….
Since it cleared up as much as we thought it would this trip, we decided for a sunset trip on the Eye….
Pictures from the Eye aren’t very easy; the glass is dirty from rain spots and you end up with a lot of refraction if you don’t have the camera lens right up against the glass you aren’t going to get decent pictures…
Last picture of the day; it is Wimbledon-time in London and the hotel has this tablepiece(? I don’t know what to call it) set up in the middle of the reception area….
