Euro2012 – Day Sixteen – Barcelona/London

Today was a travel day; leave Spain and head to England.

Barcelona:  We had arranged a cab (a minivan cab) to get from the hotel to the airport.  No problems to report here although it was a little more than what we had thought it would cost.   Spend a few minutes at the airport making sure the four suitcases were under 23 kg (some clothes shuffling had to occur to make this happen).  We flew British Airways into London City airport….

London:  Took us a lot longer to clear customs than we would have thought, but, we made it, and then managed to get all of our luggage into the typical London taxi and headed to the hotel.

The room was not ready when we arrived at 4 pm (the room was supposed to be ready…).  So, we dropped our luggage and decided to walk around a bit.  This is the view of our hotel, Marriott County Hall.  We stayed here last visit and liked it; the location is very central to everything.

A monument to the fallen during the Battle of Britain.  don’t recall this being here last time we were here….

Fric and Frac were interested in this, so, we spent some time explaining the history….

There are a lot of old phone booths (boxes) now done up in different paint schemes and artistic styles…

Not much else to report for day one EXCEPT that we returned and got our keys and went to the room…and it STILL wasn’t ready.  So, killed some more time in the Executive Lounge and had Marriott waive the fee (on top of the points I redeeemed) for the stay.  So, a 2-hour wait saved us about $400….
