Matthew: The subject of many previous posts. No updates here.
Christopher: Football is in full swing; he’s in full pads now (but they haven’t hit each other yet). He seems to be ok with everything. We had a lot of drama about the helmet (like Kevin, Christopher is not enjoying putting it on and taking it off) but that seems to be going away as every day goes by. They’ve split into two team and Cpher’s team seems to be the ‘smaller’ of the two…he’s the 2nd tallest and is almost certain to be spending large amounts of time on the offensive and defensive line. The one time I saw him at center he did pretty well….
Kevin: Had his first JV tennis scrimmage today against Haslett. He won, with his partner, his first doubles match 6-3 (I saw most of this and thought Kevin did really well). He played a singles match (lost 6-4 after being up 2-0 and tied 4-4) and tied the last singles match 3-3 when they ended the scrimmage.
Offered Kevin the advice on the way home that he needs to play to win…too often, especially when his opponent would hit a nice easy shot to him, he would just return the ball and not try to hit the ball hard for a winner….
Tonight was “Meet the Chiefs”…a booster event where all of the sports teams for that particular season are introduced. A nice event; it wad darned hot in the gym though. Kevin had to wear a dress shirt and a tie and the varsity coach did not apparently have an up to date list of the teams…and wasn’t announced (along with a few other kids) until the end when the coach realized he missed a few. Oh well, as I told Kevin, just make sure the coach knows who you are at the end of the year..
