Disneyland

Tuesday was Disneyland.  Got there at 9 am; left at 11:45 pm.

In Anaheim; Disney has two park’s right next to each other…Disneyland and California’s Adventure.  We purchased the pass that let us go to both the parks…we’ve been to Disneyworld (DW) before and a lot of the ‘same’ things that are there are here and we wouldn’t be doing many of them.

We didn’t take a lot of pictures today; there’s a few Iphone pics and movies but that’s about it.  Didn’t feel like lugging the video camera around all day….only regretted it at the end of the day.

Morning:  Started at Disneyland; first stop was Space Mountain.  Same concept as DW but a little different execution…at DW you can see the other trains and tracks around you…here it’s pitch black as you go through the coaster.  Not a big fan of pitch black…

The highlight of the morning was something I can’t believe we had to talk the kids into doing; the Jedi Challenge demonstration.  Fric and Frac whined a lot, but, in the end, were both selected to participate in Jedi training.

The challenge after the training; facing down the Dark Lords of the Sith!

Captured some video of the boys taking on Darth Maul; it’s here.

Afternoon:  Made our way through the rest of Disneyland hitting the coasters and of course a few runs on Thunder Mountain.  Boys are complaining about the 10-20 minute waits; just don’t understand that the park is really not crowded and they should count their blessings.

California’s Adventure: Made it over to the second park around 2 pm.  I definitely liked this park more than Disneyland…there wasn’t much ‘new’ over at Disneyland and there were definitely some new things over here.

Good:  Soarin’ (rode this at Epcot, but, was new for the boys).  California Screamin’ (the big coaster, with a loop, which all the boys enjoyed), Mulholland Falls (Mad-Mouse type coaster) and the River Raft ride (where we all debated who would get soaked the most as the raft bounced around and rotated…turned out the soakee was…’Mom’).

Bad:  Twilight Zone Tower of Terror – Boys decided that they wouldn’t be a part of this on this trip.  Maliboomer – A drop ride that launches 180 feet in four seconds…..I didn’t go on this and had to chase Christopher down after the ride as he walked away mad and pissed off because it wasn’t what he expected.

Video of the starts of the Maliboomer and California Screamin’ rides are here.

Non-Ride Goodness:  We ended the night by watching the Aladdin Musical and the World of Color show that is new this summer.  Aladdin was good…..very similar to the Finding Nemo musical we saw at Animal Kingdom in Florida.

World of Color was easily the highlight of the day….the best Disney show, the best water/fountain show that we’ve ever seen.

Video of the Aladdin show is here (it’s long; I didn’t realize how much I taped).

Video of the World of Colors show is here (it’s awesome!).
