Still have more than a few pictures to go through and more than a few stories to tell. So, let’s see if I can knock some of this out while watching the Nittany Lions trying to hold off the ‘tide.
I mentioned earlier that Kevin took some tennis lessons while on vacation….this is during one of them.
Went up to Hollywood on Friday morning…figured Suzanne and I have never done a wax museum and the boys would enjoy it. They did enjoy it, but, wouldn’t spent the money to do another one, anywhere.
Charlie’s Angels and Suzanne’s ???
Kevin wanted the one picture here to use as his Facebook profile pic….he hasn’t done it yet; I need to mail it to him.
Walking along Hollywood Boulevard
Two panoramas from the Griffith Park Observatory; you can see the Hollywood sign in the upper one and the smoggy LA Basin in the second
They had this scale model of the solar system on the grounds as we walked up to the observatory; the whole universe is beneath the boys feet.
Friday afternoon we drove back down to San Diego….it took a loooong time as we experienced SoCal traffic in full force (even with being a HOV-vehicle). Saturday we decided to split up; Christopher went with me to the zoo and Suzanne and the other two went to Seaworld. As you can see, Christopher made friends with a hippo….
and some gazelles….
and some river otters…these were his animal at the Big Zoo Lesson last year so he was really happy to see them!
The pandas were up and moving around so that was a highlight.
But the highlight of this trip to the zoo for me was the capybara. We’re walking through the redone elephant exhibit; it looks great, the elephants are out and moving around, the lion and lioness are off to one side and they are moving around and the crowds are swarmed around the viewing locations…and Christopher, as we are walking through and I’m wondering which side he’ll pick, goes, “Dad, look, there’s a capybara!” and runs off ahead to look at them. I’m going “Wait, there’s elephants, there’s lions…” and when I catch up he starts telling me all about them, where they live, what they eat, how big they are, you name it, he knew it. After the information flow comes to an end I ask him “How in the world do you know all this?” and the answer is simple, “I read a book at the library at school.”.
Lions, elephants, blah. Who needs them when the capybara, world’s largest rodent (“The size of a dog, Dad!”) is around.
