Away we go…..haven’t taken as many pictures recently. Even on vacation, many of the pictures come from Suzanne’s phone, not mine.
After a basketball game, Andrew and Matthew switched from tank tops to orchestra clothes for the December concert. I need to go get the video and audio from that!
The December concert was the first time in a while that Matthew had played his home bass. I never really talked about this, but, after the last concert we brought the bass home. I had told Matthew to take it back downstairs, and then a minute later I hear this gigantic crash….Matthew slipped on the stairs; he caught himself but dropped the bass. Basses don’t take well to bouncing down the stairs…..
Snapped the neck clean off. Happily (for us) I had added a special rider to our insurance policy once the basses entered the house that covered all three instruments. This one was a total loss; the repair shops would not guarantee the repair. We ended up getting it repaired anyway and it seems fine now BUT we have the money sat aside for a new replacement.
Tried a new recipe for the annual turkey gumbo…..think this recipe did a better job of explaining the roux process and how a step by step infusion of elements would darken it up. I think this roux for this gumbo was my best yet…..certainly was dark and flavorful. Need to try bacon grease instead of just canola oil next time for more flavor though.
Bailey’s best friend is still this big dog…..
He is equal opportunity though…he will let anyone snuggle with him.
When we were driving to Pittsburgh back in December and I was texting Suzanne….she said not to text and drive so I snapped this photo of the driver to prove that I wasn’t driving!
Taken in Miami; this is/was one of Matthew’s early Christmas presents. Barkley plays for Everton; our English Premier League team of choice. He has been wearing this jersey out since then. Sadly, roughly coincident with arrival of the jersey the team has been in a slump…..
Took this picture mainly to show Suzanne that the tree was no longer present in the house.
For the tree we move the couch away from the window. Holly misses this most of all; like a cat she happily spends the entire day looking outside guarding against neighborhood dogs….
Moved the treadmill from the basement to the sunroom trying to encourage more frequent usage. It was crazy heavy and the move was difficult and had one slight hiccup; a piece dropped as I disconnected the bolts and cut these three wires. Channeling JWH, Kevin and I had a solder-ing experience (had to explain the whole idea of soldering to Kevin, who had never heard of such a thing). Went well, treadmill back in operation with no issues.
Soccer practice on Monday ended on a sour note; Matthew was hustling for a ball, tripped over a teammate and fell over backwards where his head made a very solid ‘thunk’ as it hit the boards surrounding the field. Seemed dizzy, dazed, and had a big bump on his head Monday night but all was ok on Tuesday. Monday night we watched Ohio State win the title; Matthew fell asleep on the floor with Wiley during the game…..
