Winter Vacation 2014 – Fort Lauderdale

After an overnight stay in Orlando (not much to report here….temperature finally got up into the 70s so the boys spent some serious time in the pool….featuring as always a return of the elusive Christopher-fish!).

We picked up Suzanne and Kevin at the airport (we’ll add some pictures from Suzanne’s phone later) and headed to the beach to a) get to our hotel room and b) get lunch.  Christopher has always been a shrimp-hound….we passed a Bubba Gump’s on the way to the hotel so we ended up walking back for the meal.

(walked back north along the beach to get back to the hotel.  Lots of dead jellyfish have washed ashore…much to Mom’s disgust)

The big attraction of the day was to take the water taxi around the area…..check out the multi-million dollar yachts and houses!

(and there were a lot of them!)

(turns out that the better investment, according to the tour guides, are the yachts.  The biggest ones cost almost double what the houses cost!)

(This is part of the Wayne Huizenga house….just really nice!)

(and many of them were lit up for the holidays.  This house is called the White House…owned by the guy who developed air conditioning systems for cars apparently)
